Joanisse is an expert in digital inclusion and social impact innovation, with a focus on empowering marginalized communities through technology. Besides her faculty role at Carleton she leads Connected Canadians, the country’s largest digital inclusion charity for seniors, providing free technology training to older adults and fostering cross-generational connections. Her research explores the role of digital literacy in increasing social connectedness and equity. At Carleton, she is the Director of the Sprott Social Impact Hub, advancing community engagement through project-based experiential learning - empowering students apply business skills to make the world a better place. Emily is a requested speaker on topics such as digital literacy, social entrepreneurship, and technology’s role in fostering inclusive communities.
