Bio/Research

Greenberg's expertise is in the broad area of health risk communication, with a focus on media representations of outbreaks and other infectious disease risks; public risk perceptions of vaccination; and the risk communication strategies and media activities of public health officials and organizations.

Greenberg is a regular media commentator in his areas of expertise. In 2020 he was awarded the Faculty of Public Affairs “Public Commentary Excellence Award” in recognition of his contributions to policy development and public discourse in Canada.

Greenberg is also available to discuss the resurgence of vinyl records as a resilient form of analog technology in an era of ubiquitous digital media, of the role played by local record stores in cultural economies, and the significance of major retail and industry events like Record Store Day.

His research into what he calls “vinyl culture” looks at the growth of record stores across Canada, the practices, rituals and routines of record collectors, and marketing and promotional practices of major record labels.
