Bio/Research

Richardson's research is focused on educational cognition. More specifically, she is primarily interested in investigating effective teaching and learning from a cognitive perspective. For example, she has examined the differential effects that typing and handwriting have on memory and learning. She has also investigated methods that best support teaching, learning, and memory more broadly. She is also interested in the underlying cognitive mechanisms that explain students’ perception of psychology as a science.
