Polianskii is a post‑doctoral researcher at the Leibniz‑Institut für Friedens‑ und Konfliktforschung Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) in Germany, where he co‑leads the comparative project “PATTERN: How Does the Past Matter? The Russian War of Aggression against Ukraine and the Cold War.” His work focuses on Russian foreign and domestic policy, the evolution of transatlantic security institutions, and the dynamics of hybrid warfare.
During his tenure at Carleton, Polianskii will pursue a research agenda on transatlantic security relations, examining in particular the interplay between Russia’s strategic disengagement from European security frameworks and the transformation of transatlantic relations. He will teach a graduate‑level seminar entitled: “Russia and the West: Hybrid Warfare and Transatlantic Security.”
