Rayhani's research areas include advanced foundation engineering, soil and foundation improvement solutions for seismic resistant design, modern landfill facilities, and geotechnical aspects of climate change. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and he is the author of over 50 publications in different areas of geoengineering. Rayhani is a member of CGS, OGG, ASCE, ISSMFE, and a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. He has received research grants from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Canada Foundation for Innovation, Transport Canada, and other funding agencies. He has also been involved in over 20 engineering projects around the world and has experience in foundation investigation and design, landfill barrier systems, geotechnical earthquake engineering, embankment dams and slope stability.
