Bio/Research

Kanter is a technically savvy design and training specialist. Fascinated by the history and evolution of ideas, he has devoted his career to finding practical solutions to innovation challenges. For the last 20 years, Kanter has worked at the cutting edge of technology and manufacturing, through his involvement in the fields of exhibit design, 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and quality control. His current P.hD. research work at the School of Public Policy involves uncovering new ethical guidelines to regulate emerging technologies and artificial moral agents.

Kanter has completed bachelor's degrees from Carleton University in Industrial Design (2000), Political Science (2008), and a Master’s in Policy and Innovation (2014). In 2019, Kanter was a recipient of the Carleton Contract Instructor Award and in 2021 he was awarded a Contract Instructor Innovation Grant to explore new applications of Haptic technologies for the classroom. In his spare time, Kanter helps organize workshops and events that link designers and entrepreneurs through community initiatives.
