Lee was employed for 9 years in banking as a Loan Manager, Mortgage Manager and commercial lender in 1970s and early 1980s, where he lent millions of dollars in mortgages.
Lee teaches the 4th year STRATEGY CAPSTONE course and the MBA strategy capstone course – where the strategic direction and competitive advantage of the firm is analyzed – in conjunction with the economic policies of governments that affect firms and industry eg taxation, trade agreements, regulation.
Lee has appeared multiple times before the House of Commons Finance and Senate Banking committees. He has been in every Government of Canada budget lockup since 2008 until 2020. He attended pre-budget consultations with the Minister of Finance in 2009 and 2011.
He has published over 35 Op-eds in Globe and Mail, National Post, Ottawa Citizen, New York Times, Ottawa Business Journal, and the Toronto Star.
After the collapse of communism, Lee taught approximately 100 times across Central and Eastern Europe and China - for American and Canadian EMBA programs - in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, and the Czech Republic. And later in Hong Kong and Shanghai China and Iran from 1998-2008.
Lee is a past member of Carleton's Board of Governors.
